Online gambling in India is rising at an alarming rate, putting not just money but lives at risk. According to a recent report released by CUTS International, more than $100 billion (around ₹8.5 lakh crore) is wagered on online gambling platforms every year.
This growing trend is becoming a serious threat to the youth, minors, and the country’s financial stability, highlighting the urgent need for strict regulations.
Young Users Are Being Trapped
The report reveals that from 1 April 2024 to 24 november 2025, the top 15 illegal gambling websites received over 540 crore views through 40 mirror sites satta king.
These platforms bypass essential KYC procedures and attract users—especially young people—through fake offers and claims.
Shockingly, some offshore illegal operators even accept Cash-on-Delivery (COD) payments, enabling minors to gamble without digital verification.
66% of Young People Are Betting Through Direct Links
More than 66% of youth access these illegal platforms using direct URLs and private channels, which shows their strong awareness and trust in these websites.
Most transactions are processed through anonymous bank accounts and illegal UPI methods, increasing the risks of cybercrime and money laundering.
A Mental Health and Cyber-Crime Crisis in the Making
Experts warn that if immediate action is not taken, online gambling could lead to a nationwide mental health crisis, financial losses, and a surge in cyber-related crimes.

Report Recommendations for the Government
The CUTS report suggests several important measures:

Launch awareness campaigns for youth and parents

Support research on gambling addiction and mental health effects
So far, the government has not released an official response to the report.
